Commitment to who protects and cares
In light of the scenario of defenselessness and vulnerability, civil society organizations are fundamental agents for mobilizing communities to cope with the emergencies of the pandemic

If there is a lesson to be learned from the year 2020 it is the importance of organized civil society when an emergency situation arises which exacerbates the social inequalities. Especially in the context of the defense and guarantee of the rights of children, adolescents and young people, since the needs for protection and care lie in the day-to-day life in the territories of activity of those civil society organizations (CSOs). Thus, the set of actions and programs aimed at institutional development, technical consulting and financial support to civil society organizations, one of Itaú Social’s strategic pillars, become even more significant. The following pages provide details about these actions, which are needed now more than ever to strengthen family bonds in face of a scenario like that of 2020, marked by an increase in household violence and violations of rights. One initiative, in particular, symbolizes this moment in which the priority is on care: the Protection Network course, which in 2020 was one of the most accessed courses of Polo, Itaú Social’s training environment.
